FRIGHTFULLY GOOD SINGING needs FRIGHTFULLY GOOD FUNDING

JS Bach knew what he was talking about:

But in the case of this letter to his employer, the Town Council of Leipzig, his appeal for extra funding fell on deaf ears. Beethoven said, “It’s terrifying how much money you need”. Palestrina resigned from the great Roman church of Santa Maria Maggiore “at a moment’s notice” when the clergy tried to reduce his salary. Other composers, like Handel, Mozart and Haydn, survived only through the support of their generous private sponsors and benefactors.
The need for funding is just as great, if not greater, for musicians of the twenty-first century as it was for musicians of the past. To be able to continue to present the world’s finest music, we need your support.
